Giorgio Armani was born in 1934 in Piacanza, a small town near Milan. After leaving the University of Milan Medical Schol in 1957, he started working in a department store, before working as an assistant photographer, and was soon promoted to the company's style office. IN 1964, Armani began to design a line of menswear, and in 1970 became a freeelance fashion designer. The Armani label was founded in 1975. He diversified into womens fashion and soon became one of the best known designers in the world. In the 1980's, Armani introduced the 'Power Suit' for men and women. IN 1982, Armani became the first fashion designer to appear on the cover of 'Title' magazine since Christian Dior in the 1940's, and was the first to approach celebrities to wear his designs. Today Armani remains one of the most diverse fashion brands in the world, dressing everyone from the England and Italian football teams to Alitalia Airlines flight attendants!
